Google Meet now offers an AI makeup filter for days when you'd rather skip applying real cosmetics before a call. This addition helps the platform better compete with video conferencing rivals like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, which already include virtual makeup tools.
Users can choose from 12 makeup styles located in the "Appearance" settings under "Portrait touch-up." This feature set, available since 2023, also includes complexion smoothing, under-eye brightening, and eye whitening options.
Image Credits: Google Meet Google emphasizes that the virtual makeup stays consistently in place with on-screen movement, creating a natural look. For example, if you drink coffee, the filter remains on your face rather than shifting to the mug.
The feature is disabled by default and can be enabled by users before or during calls. Once you select a makeup style, Google Meet saves your preference for future meetings.
Rollout for this AI-powered enhancement started on October 8 across mobile and web platforms.
