On Tuesday, Google announced a new method for building automated workflows within its vibe-coding application, Opal. The company introduced a new agent feature that enables users to develop mini-apps capable of planning and executing tasks based on simple text prompts.
This functionality leverages the Gemini 3 Flash model, which autonomously selects the necessary tools to complete tasks. For example, it can utilize Google Sheets to retain information across sessions, such as managing a shopping list for an e-commerce application. The agent independently creates and strategizes the subsequent steps for any given task.

If they require additional details to proceed, they will prompt users to provide the information or present a set of choices to determine the next course of action. The company states that this innovation allows individuals without technical expertise to construct sophisticated workflows directly within their applications.
The vibe-coding tool Opal initially launched for U.S. users in July 2025. It empowers anyone to create miniature web applications or modify existing ones. Google expanded Opal's availability to 15 additional countries in October 2025, including Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, and Singapore. Subsequently, in December, the tool was integrated into the Gemini web app, offering a visual editor that lets users design custom applications without writing a single line of code.
Google is not alone in this space; numerous other startups are developing platforms that allow app creation through natural language commands. While Lovable and Replit are among the well-known players, other emerging companies are gaining traction. These include Wabi (founded by a former Replika creator), Emergent (backed by SoftBank and Lightspeed), and Rocket.new (supported by Accel).
