Google expands AI Mode to track flight prices and book hotels
Google has introduced new capabilities within AI Mode, its conversational search interface, allowing users to plan and book trips more effectively, the company revealed on Thursday. The updated features enable users to inquire about flight price trends, reserve accommodations, and view costs in points or miles directly through the tool.
These enhancements signal Google’s strategy to position AI Mode as a comprehensive AI travel assistant, transitioning from merely providing information to actively managing segments of trip planning and booking.
Users can now specify their travel dates and destinations to AI Mode, which will present the best available options with current pricing from over 300 airlines and travel platforms. For those ready to finalize their plans, AI Mode allows itinerary creation directly within the interface. Alternatively, users can monitor price fluctuations by requesting, “track these flight prices for me,” if they prefer to wait for better deals.

Users will receive email notifications if prices change for their specified destination and dates. This flight price tracking feature is now accessible in more than 180 countries.
Regarding hotel reservations, users can discover and book accommodations through interactive conversations with AI Mode. By sharing trip details and preferences, users receive a curated list of options along with reviews and key highlights.
After selecting a preferred hotel, users can instruct AI Mode to assist with the booking process. They must then choose the “Continue on Google” option, which appears alongside integrated partners, including major hotel chains and travel websites.
From this point, users can select their room type, review important details such as cancellation policies, and finalize the reservation using Google Pay. Google clarifies that the hotel or booking platform remains responsible for handling the reservation and any subsequent customer service inquiries.

Hotel booking functionality in AI Mode has begun rolling out in the United States in English, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks. Supported partners include Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Additionally, Google announced that AI Mode can now display costs in points or miles for both flights and hotels. Users can ask queries such as, “I want to travel from Atlanta to Miami using my AA miles. Help me find some options for nonstop flights departing Oct 9 and returning on Oct 12.”
The system will then show the number of miles required to book matching flights. This feature is now available globally.
