Google Enhances Gemini Spark AI Assistant with Workspace Editing and Over 50% Speed Boost
Google is continuing to enhance its AI assistant, Gemini Spark, by integrating more Google Workspace capabilities and boosting the efficiency of AI agents. Gemini Spark is currently available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in regions where the Gemini app is supported, though it is not yet accessible in the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.

Josh Woodward, a vice president at Google, shared on the X platform that this update focuses on strengthening Gemini Spark's integration with office workflows. The updated Spark can now open and edit Google Docs, read comments in Google Sheets and Slides, and support editing shared and private spreadsheets and presentations. This significantly broadens its use in both enterprise office and personal productivity contexts.
Before this update, Gemini Spark already supported several Workspace functions, such as scheduling meetings and summarizing conversations. With the addition of document, spreadsheet, and presentation handling, Spark is evolving from a task-based tool into a more complete AI office assistant.
On the performance side, Google notes that Gemini Spark's AI agent speed has improved by more than 50% compared to earlier versions. It also now supports parallel processing of information from multiple data sources, which helps improve efficiency for complex tasks.
