With Pebble returning to its roots, we now have an official preview of the upcoming Pebble Time 2, scheduled to ship to customers later this year. (An initial glimpse was shared back in March, though those designs were still preliminary.)
The designs were published today by Core Devices CEO Eric Migicovsky on his blog and YouTube channel. The Time 2 will be available in four color options, though final selections are still pending—Migicovsky emphasizes the company is actively seeking feedback from the Pebble community. The watch will feature a stainless steel front, back, and buttons, similar to the Pebble Time Steel. Additional upgrades include multicolor RGB backlighting, a secondary microphone, a screw-mounted back cover, and an integrated compass. Weighing approximately 48 grams with the strap (or 32.5 grams for the case alone), these details complement previously announced specs like a 1.5-inch 64-color e-paper display, touch screen, standard 22mm straps, heart rate monitoring, and a 30-day battery life.
“This is essentially the watch I’ve always dreamed of,” Migicovsky remarks in the video. So far, the design retains the minimalist aesthetic of the original Pebble Time, but with a sleeker silhouette and rounded edges. Compared to the slightly more formal Pebble Time Steel, the bezels on the new Pebble Time 2 are also noticeably narrower. The glass is flatter as well, reducing glare when viewed from an angle.
In his blog post, Migicovsky adds that customers who wish to switch their orders from the Pebble 2 Duo don’t need to take any extra steps. A survey will be sent to pre-order customers within the next month or so. In the meantime, enjoy the gallery below to get a closer look.
