Film Wind’s 49-yuan AI course sells 100,000 copies in first day, generating over 4.9 million yuan in daily revenue
Content creator “Film Wind,” who boasts ten million followers, recently introduced an AI-focused practical course priced at 49 yuan. The course sold over 100,000 copies within its first day alone, generating sales of more than 4.9 million yuan in that single period — a clear indication of the strong commercial appeal associated with top-tier content IPs in the AI education sector.
As reported, the original price of the course was 99 yuan, but users can obtain it for 49 yuan after applying available coupons. The program comprises 16 lessons organized into five distinct teaching modules, covering fundamental applications such as AI image generation, video creation, and prompt crafting. It also delves into more advanced film production techniques like simulating robotic arm camera movements, creating bullet time effects, and generating AI storyboards.
This course was developed in partnership between Film Wind and the third-party AI visual creation platform TapNow, meaning it wasn’t created entirely in-house by Film Wind. This marks the second time the creator has ventured into the low-cost knowledge product space, following the launch of its 49-yuan video editing course. That earlier course also saw over 100,000 units sold on day one, resulting in sales that exceeded 5 million yuan.

Yet such high sales volumes have given rise to mixed feedback from users. Data from the Douyin product page shows that the course has received more than 1,600 positive reviews alongside over 80 negative ones. Some customers have expressed concerns that the content relies too heavily on pre-set templates, lacks sufficient flexibility in real-world use, and often fails to meet the outcomes promised in promotional materials.
Film Wind was founded in 2014 by Pan Tianhong, better known online as Tim. Today, the creator has amassed a combined fan base of over 40 million across various platforms, with roughly 16 million followers on Bilibili and about 14 million on Douyin. Over the years, it has evolved from a single creative team into a full-fledged content organization employing more than 100 people. Its total revenue in 2024 surpassed 100 million yuan.
With generative AI tools becoming increasingly widespread, AI-related training programs have emerged as a new business area for both content creators and technology companies. Nevertheless, course quality, practical value to users, and overall user experience will continue to be critical factors in determining long-term competitiveness in this market.
