HomeeBay Veteran of 25 Years Praises New AI-Powered Listing Tool as Revolutionary
Selling on eBay has become much simpler, and it's about time. I'm no expert at this, just someone who occasionally lists a few items each month. Whether I'm clearing out clutter, selling off old tech I've upgraded from, or flipping a thrift store find, eBay is my go-to platform.
One thing that's always held me back from selling more is the tedious process of creating listings. It's a chore to fill in all those details if you want to maximize your item's value.
AI is Streamlining the Listing Process
Back in 2023, eBay introduced a "magical listing" tool powered by AI that could generate a full product description from just a single photo. Now, they're taking it a step further by streamlining the entire listing process with AI.
Before, you had the choice of starting from scratch or using a text search to find your item and then building your listing from there. The "magic" only kicked in after you uploaded a photo.
With the new tool, AI takes the hassle out of the process by optimizing your listing title, filling in item specifics, and creating a description. According to eBay, this cuts down the time to list an item by 50%.
How eBay's New AI Tool Works
In a demo video from eBay, a user lists a vinyl record, "Hello, Dolly!" by Louis Armstrong. After uploading a photo and entering a title, eBay automatically categorizes it and suggests several existing listings, asking, "Are any of these your item?" It then suggests an optimized title and fills in all the listing details—material, genre, release title, record label, record size, release year, condition, and more.
Next is the description field, where you can either write your own or let AI do the work. In the demo, a single tap generates a compelling description in just a few seconds. After setting the shipping options, the item is listed in a mere 51 seconds from start to finish.
This new tool complements existing features that allow you to create multiple listings at once using AI by uploading bulk photos—eBay claims you can do "hundreds at once"—and enhancing photo backgrounds with AI.
Whether you're a seasoned seller or just someone looking to declutter your garage, this tool makes listing items much less of a hassle. I've been selling on eBay for 25 years and have always taken pride in crafting perfect listings, especially the descriptions. But I'm definitely going to use this new tool to finally tackle that box that's been sitting in my garage for months.

Finally! As a casual seller, the old listing process felt like filling out tax forms 😅 This AI tool actually understands my blurry photos? That's a game-changer for weekend decluttering. Wonder if it'll make pricing too competitive though...

This AI listing tool sounds like a game-changer for eBay sellers! I’ve been flipping vintage clothes there for years, and anything that cuts down the hassle of writing descriptions is a win. Curious how it handles tricky items like antiques though—any hiccups? 🧐
