Doubao unveils three-tier paid subscriptions up to 500 yuan per month, integrating its 2.1 series large model
On June 24, ByteDance's AI assistant Doubao launched three paid subscription tiers, marking the beginning of commercial monetization for leading domestic large-model applications. The paid plans are priced at 68 yuan per month for the standard tier, 200 yuan per month for the enhanced tier, and 500 yuan per month for the premium tier. All versions incorporate the newly upgraded Doubao 2.1 series large model, which delivers notable improvements in performance while keeping daily usage free for existing users.

In terms of pricing, Doubao's professional version offers a clear local cost advantage compared to leading global AI services. Overseas, monthly fees for ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, and Gemini Advanced hover around $20 USD (approximately 135 yuan). By contrast, Doubao's standard tier costs just 68 yuan—roughly half the price. For the top-tier offering, ChatGPT Pro's annual fee is about 16,295 yuan, while Doubao's premium plan is 5,088 yuan, under one-third of that amount.
This highly competitive pricing not only lowers the barrier to accessing advanced AI capabilities but also challenges the global AI subscription pricing model set by overseas players. With the launch of Doubao’s paid plans, the domestic large-model industry is accelerating into a new phase of "high-value service monetization," moving beyond the earlier "free parameter rivalry." This move could trigger a fresh wave of commercial pricing competition among domestic large-model applications.
