Claude Voice Mode Upgrade Enables Switching Between Opus and Sonnet, Ending Haiku Monopoly
Tech media outlet TestingCatalog reports that Anthropic plans to upgrade Claude's voice mode this week, adding support for the more powerful Opus and Sonnet models. Currently, Claude's voice mode relies solely on the Haiku 4.5 model, limiting users to basic voice conversations with the AI. After the upgrade, users will have three model options, greatly enhancing the voice interaction experience.
Three model options will be available, with adjustable thinking levels.
The latest news indicates that Anthropic will introduce a new model selector, allowing users to freely switch between the Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku models, with a setting option next to it to control the "thinking" level. This means users can choose the appropriate model based on conversation complexity — use the lightweight Haiku for casual chats and switch to Opus for in-depth discussions. However, the company's flagship Mythos-level model, Claude Fable, is not yet available in the voice options and is expected to be included in future updates.
