Chongqing Unveils New AI Medical Assistant Developed by Yu Xiaojian for 233 Local Hospitals
On July 17th, the Chongqing Municipal Health and Wellness Commission introduced its innovative intelligent service called “Yu Xiaojian” aimed at simplifying healthcare access for residents throughout the city. This platform delivers AI-powered medical solutions that allow users to benefit from streamlined services. Citizens can easily access “Yu Xiaojian” through either the Alipay App or Afu App, where they can utilize features such as intelligent triage, virtual companion support, examination report lookup, and AI-generated interpretation of results.
“Yu Xiaojian” was developed in collaboration between the Chongqing Municipal Health and Wellness Commission, the Chongqing Municipal Big Data Bureau, and Ant Group. It leverages Chongqing’s robust digital infrastructure, the data resources available from medical institutions, and Ant Group’s advanced AI large model technology. The service began internal testing at the Chongqing Maternal and Child Health Hospital in October 2025 before being rolled out on a pilot basis at 32 tertiary hospitals, ultimately serving over 2 million users.

Since its official release, “Yu Xiaojian” has been integrated with 233 medical facilities, encompassing all public hospitals at the secondary level and above in the city. Of these, 32 tertiary hospitals—including the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, and the Chongqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital—have implemented services such as virtual companion support, real-time access to examination and test results, and AI-assisted interpretation of reports. These features enable comprehensive assistance throughout the entire healthcare journey, from pre-consultation preparation to post-treatment follow-up.
When it comes to report retrieval, users can view their examination and test outcomes online after completing the necessary authorization steps. They will also receive immediate alerts whenever new reports are generated. For key medical indicators such as blood counts and biochemical results, “Yu Xiaojian” utilizes AI technology to provide concise explanations, helping users understand any abnormal findings alongside relevant health recommendations.
During the consultation process, the virtual companion service covers various stages including registration, wait time tracking, examination scheduling, payment processing, and medication pickup. Users can monitor queue progress, locate department locations, and check payment status online, which helps reduce unnecessary waiting time and effort in gathering information. Additionally, the AI triage system allows users to describe their symptoms via text or voice input, aiding in the accurate matching of patients with appropriate departments and doctors while also providing information about services available within the hospital.
As artificial intelligence continues to play an increasingly vital role in healthcare settings, the launch of “Yu Xiaojian” represents Chongqing’s commitment to advancing AI-driven smart medical solutions. It facilitates a shift toward more intelligent and personalized healthcare services, moving beyond simple optimization of traditional offline processes.
