China Launches First AI Robot Insurance Policy, Paving Way for Xinjiang Agriculture

Recently, the first insurance policy specifically designed for AI drones used in agriculture was officially signed and implemented in Xinjiang. This innovative move not only pushes beyond traditional agricultural insurance boundaries but also marks a significant step forward in the cross-industry integration of insurance, agriculture, and AI.
This partnership was established between the Xinjiang branch of China Ping An Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Ltd. and Juewu Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. Under the signed agreement, Ping An Property Insurance will provide comprehensive risk coverage for 34 modular agricultural transformation robots developed by Juewu Technology, with a total insured amount of 18.6 million yuan. These intelligent, transformable machines now have their own workplace protection.
Moving Beyond Traditional Models, Tailored Comprehensive Risk Coverage
Unlike previous standardized insurance products, this plan completely breaks away from the traditional agricultural insurance model. Using advanced intelligent risk control models, the insurance company conducted precise quantitative analysis of operational scenarios, taking into account the unique characteristics of AI robots working in complex agricultural environments.
This tailored protection plan offers comprehensive coverage: it covers damage to the robot body, accidents during storage, fire risks, and also includes special coverage for third-party liability losses. By covering both the machine itself and operational liability, this comprehensive insurance design effectively fills a gap in the insurance protection for the domestic agricultural AI robot industry, addressing the concerns of technology companies as they deploy their machines in fields and farmland.
Technology and Finance as Driving Forces, Creating a New Model for Rural Revitalization
The implementation of this insurance goes beyond a simple commercial contract. It establishes a solid financial firewall for agricultural smart equipment operating in complex and ever-changing natural environments.
According to available information, this innovative service model will not be limited to a single type of machine in the future. The enterprises involved stated that the next step is to expand this insurance plus technology model to cover all scenarios of agricultural smart equipment, and they plan to promote it widely across major agricultural production areas in Xinjiang and even nationwide. By using financial tools to spread the risks of technological innovation, Xinjiang aims to build a replicable and scalable new model where finance empowers rural revitalization, making smart agriculture more confident and steady.
