ChatGPT Launches Scheduled Tasks, Transforming Passive Q&A into Proactive Execution
OpenAI has rolled out a significant upgrade to ChatGPT, introducing a new "Scheduled Tasks" feature that enhances the assistant's proactive capabilities. This system, which will eventually replace the existing Pulse feature, lets users assign recurring tasks, set reminders, or monitor specific information automatically. Currently, it's being made available gradually to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users on both web and mobile platforms.

This update brings deep improvements to task management and execution efficiency. A new "Scheduled" page in the sidebar allows users to view, pause, resume, edit, or delete all tasks in one place. For execution, users can set exact times or choose flexible time windows. For ongoing monitoring tasks, the system can automatically search the web or connected apps and push notifications only when new relevant content appears. To maintain stability, scheduled tasks run at most once per hour, and any long-inactive, unmanaged tasks are automatically paused. With the launch of this new system, the existing Pulse feature will be discontinued after 14 days.
OpenAI has also optimized the photo capture and upload process, reducing the time needed to import photos. Industry analysts suggest that the introduction of scheduled tasks signals ChatGPT's gradual shift from a traditional passive Q&A tool to an intelligent agent capable of active execution and continuous tracking. This will further expand AI's role in personal productivity management and proactive information services.
