ChatGPT introduces interactive visuals to explain math and science topics
On Tuesday, OpenAI rolled out dynamic visual explanations, a new ChatGPT capability that lets users watch formulas, variables, and mathematical relationships evolve in real time.
Rather than just reading an explanation or viewing a static diagram, users can now directly engage with interactive visuals. For instance, when exploring the Pythagorean theorem, you can modify the side lengths of a triangle and see the hypotenuse recalculate instantly. Users are able to tweak numbers and variables and observe immediate updates.
To test the feature, ask ChatGPT questions such as “What is a lens equation?” or “How do I calculate the area of a circle?” ChatGPT will reply not only with an explanation but also with an interactive module you can adjust.
Currently, these visuals cover more than 70 math and science subjects, including the binomial square, Charles’ law, area of a circle, compound interest, Coulomb’s law, difference of squares, exponential decay, Hooke’s law, kinetic energy, linear equations, and Ohm’s law.
OpenAI intends to broaden the feature in the future to include additional interactive topics. It is accessible to all logged-in ChatGPT users.

This new feature complements other recent educational tools in ChatGPT, such as study mode, which walks users through problems step by step. There is also QuizGPT, where users can create flashcards and have ChatGPT test them on any subject before exams.
