ByteDance Unveils Seed3D 2.0, Boosting 3D Generation Accuracy and Realism
In generative AI, 3D content creation is emerging as a new technological battleground. ByteDance recently launched its next-generation high-precision 3D generation model — Seed3D2.0 . The model's technical report is now publicly available, and its corresponding APIs have been deployed on the Volcano Engine platform.
Benchmark evaluations show that Seed3D2.0 achieves state-of-the-art results on two key metrics: geometry generation and texture material modeling. It can reproduce fine sharp edges and thin-walled structures in complex objects. For PBR material generation, its realism and lighting stability significantly surpass existing mainstream models.

To assess real-world user perception, ByteDance conducted a blind review with 60 professional 3D modelers. In the pure geometry test, Seed3D2.0 showed a clear advantage; in the full test including textures, it achieved a preference rate of over 69% against other mainstream models, confirming the quality improvement driven by its architectural innovations.

From a technical standpoint, Seed3D2.0 employs a coarse-to-fine two-stage generation strategy. It tackles complex topology restoration by decoupling overall structure from local details and optimizing each independently. The model also uses a Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture to refine material details at high resolutions, and incorporates a visual language model (VLM) prior for more accurate material decomposition under unknown lighting conditions.
Beyond basic geometry and texture generation, the model demonstrates strong practical potential. Seed3D2.0 can perform component-level segmentation completion, generate hinged assets, and compose scenes from multi-modal input. These capabilities allow generative 3D models to move beyond the lab and into real-world deployments such as game development and simulation scenario construction.
