ByteDance Unveils ByteClaw and Security Guidelines to Tighten Internal Access for Large Models
Sina Tech reports that ByteDance’s Security Team has internally published the "OpenClaw Security Standards and Usage Guidelines" and introduced ByteClaw, a compliance tool for staff. This initiative tackles security governance challenges for large model tools within enterprise intranets by establishing standardized protocols. Built on Volcano Engine’s ArkClaw Enterprise Edition, ByteClaw integrates unified identity authentication, access control, and permission management under the corporate account system, providing a secure foundation for employees to access internal resources.

To mitigate five common security risks in large model applications—failed access control, prompt injection, sensitive data leakage, supply chain vulnerabilities, and malicious plugin poisoning—the guidelines define clear technical prevention measures. ByteDance’s Security Team notes that cloud-hosted platforms like ByteClaw have undergone security baseline configurations, effectively reducing the attack surface and enabling continuous operational monitoring. Regarding deployment, ByteDance strictly forbids installing these tools in core production environments, such as business servers, and advises against local deployment on office computers. If local use is necessary for business purposes, strict adherence to the guidelines and completion of required security configurations are mandatory.
This development highlights how leading tech firms are accelerating the enhancement of security compliance for large model applications while boosting AI efficiency. As open-source frameworks like OpenClaw gain traction, enterprise-level security compliance is becoming a critical factor in transitioning large models from technical experiments to business implementation. ByteDance’s standardization efforts offer a reference model for internal control and governance of AI applications across the industry.
