Broadcom Partners with Financial Giants in $3.5B Push to Reshape AI Computing Infrastructure

Broadcom, the chip giant, recently unveiled a major financial and technological strategy: partnering with Apollo and Blackstone to launch the AI XPV platform. This initiative aims to build next-generation computing infrastructure for cutting-edge AI labs through large-scale investment.
The launch of this platform is a significant milestone. Broadcom, as the key technology provider, will supply its custom XPUs and advanced networking solutions to meet the high-efficiency computing power transmission demands of large-scale model training. Meanwhile, Apollo and Blackstone, as initial anchor investors, will contribute strong financial backing through their credit and insurance arms, with an initial injection of $3.5 billion.
The investment's primary goal is straightforward: to support the computing power expansion of leading AI labs like Anthropic and OpenAI. Under the plan, the AI XPV platform aims to deploy over 20 gigawatts of computing power by 2028. This figure not only reflects tech giants' vision of future computing demand but also signals that AI infrastructure has entered the industrialized construction phase of "energy-intensive" development.
Initial deployment is set to begin soon. Reports indicate that the facilities will be installed at Fluidstack sites starting in mid-2026, primarily to support Anthropic's previously announced expansion plan for over 1 gigawatt of computing infrastructure.
This collaboration between chipmakers and financial capital sends a powerful market signal: the AI industry is no longer solely focused on algorithm iteration; it has entered the "deep water" of competition in underlying energy and hardware capacity. With this $3.5 billion investment, the global AI computing power supply landscape could be reshaped within the next two years.
