Sources: Benchmark in Talks to Lead Greptile's Series A at $180M Valuation for AI Code Tool

Greptile, an AI-driven code review startup, is currently securing a Series A funding round. Sources familiar with the transaction inform TechCrunch that the round targets $30 million at a $180 million valuation, led by Benchmark partner Eric Vishria. However, one source indicates the deal has not yet finalized and terms remain subject to change.
Founded by Dasksh Gupta after his 2023 graduation from Georgia Tech, the startup participated in Y Combinator's winter 2024 cohort and secured a $4 million seed round led by Initialized Capital upon completion.
Gupta previously explained to TechCrunch that his company's AI assistant functions as an experienced team member with comprehensive knowledge of the client's codebase, allowing it to identify bugs and subtle issues that human reviewers could overlook.
Similar to most AI sectors, the code review landscape features intense competition.
Greptile's primary competitors include Graphite, which earlier this year raised a $52 million Series B led by Accel with participation from Anthropic’s Anthology Fund, Menlo Ventures, a16z, and other investors. Another significant rival is Coderabbit, which secured a $16 million Series A from CRV last year.
This competitive pressure has led Greptile to enforce demanding work schedules for its employees.
The then-22-year-old Gupta stated in a November X post that Greptile "does not offer work-life balance." He noted that staff typically work from 9 AM to 11 PM, including Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.

San Francisco | October 27-29, 2025 REGISTER NOW After his post gained significant attention, Gupta told multiple media outlets that surpassing competitors requires total commitment from every team member. "Nobody remembers the third-ranked company, or even the second-best player in any software category. Delivering 95 percent effort equates to zero percent in this environment," Gupta clarified in an interview with Inc.
Regardless of workplace culture, securing investment from top-tier venture capital firm Benchmark at a solid Series A valuation could significantly advance Greptile's trajectory.
Both Greptile and Benchmark declined to comment on the matter.
