Apple iOS 27 to Integrate Siri Mode into Camera App with Advanced Visual Intelligence
Apple is set to deeply integrate artificial intelligence into the iPhone camera's core architecture with the upcoming iOS 27, achieving a full fusion of visual intelligence features through a new "Siri Mode." Insiders report that "Visual Intelligence," previously linked to the physical "Camera Control" button, will now appear as a dedicated switch within the camera app's interface, positioned alongside "Photo," "Video," and "Portrait" modes. This change is designed to elevate the visibility of AI capabilities, enabling users to access the core functions of Apple Intelligence more intuitively.

On the technical and interaction front, this new mode will feature a shutter button styled with the Apple Intelligence visual identity, replacing the traditional white capture button. Functionally, the mode will not only support calling ChatGPT for contextual Q&A and performing Google Lens-style reverse image searches but will also significantly boost real-world perception and processing. This includes extracting event details from posters to auto-create calendar entries, accurately identifying plant and animal species, and swiftly retrieving business information like menus and contact details.
Furthermore, Apple is pushing functional boundaries with its proprietary algorithms. iOS 27 is anticipated to introduce automatic scanning and logging of nutritional labels from food packaging, along with the ability to directly identify and save contact information through the camera viewfinder. These advancements signal Apple's accelerated drive to transform multimodal AI capabilities into native system experiences. Following tradition, iOS 27 will be previewed at June's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and released this fall alongside new hardware. This move is widely viewed as a crucial strategic step for Apple to strengthen its position in the competitive mobile AI landscape.
