Apollo, Blackstone Raise $36B for Record Chip Leasing Deal of Google TPUs to Power Anthropic

Investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure is reaching new heights. According to sources, asset management giants Apollo Global Management and Blackstone are jointly structuring a debt financing deal worth approximately $36 billion. The move is designed to draw additional investors into funding AI infrastructure for Anthropic, a leading AI unicorn.
This financing, one of the largest private credit transactions ever, uses a distinctive "rent-to-own" structure. The debt proceeds will be used to purchase custom AI chips — Google's TPUs — and after delivery, Anthropic will lease them to secure essential computing power.
Notably, Broadcom, a key player in the chip supply chain, has provided robust credit guarantees for the largest portion of the deal. The transaction strategically leverages Broadcom's credit standing to create a highly stable computing power channel for Anthropic, which recently surpassed rival OpenAI in valuation.
Following the news, shares of major tech companies climbed in after-hours trading. Broadcom's stock jumped 1.9% to a post-market high of $434.84, while Alphabet, Google's parent company, gained 1.2%, touching $394.81 at one point.
Industry analysts note that this landmark deal — bridging Wall Street finance, chip giants, and AI startups — not only sets a global record for the largest chip-related debt financing but also signals a new phase in the competition for large model military equipment, focusing on the comparison of underlying computing power resources and capital integration capabilities.
