Anthropic signs 20-year data center lease in $19B AI infrastructure deal
Anthropic, the AI firm behind Claude, has confirmed plans to construct a major new data center in Horseshoe, Kentucky. To facilitate this expansion, the company has entered into a 20-year lease agreement with TeraWulf, a prominent provider of computing infrastructure.
Situated roughly an hour from Louisville, Horseshoe offers a strategic location for this initiative. This project underscores Anthropic’s rapid acceleration in building its underlying computing power network, reinforcing its position as a global leader in AI technology.

Unprecedented Scale of Supercomputing Center
According to TeraWulf, the facility’s power generation capacity is projected to reach approximately 400 megawatts by 2027. This substantial energy output will support Anthropic’s efforts to train and operate increasingly advanced AI models.
From a financial standpoint, the 20-year lease is expected to generate roughly $19 billion in rental income for TeraWulf during the initial term. This agreement not only validates the company’s energy development strategy but also establishes a robust foundation for future growth.
Long-term Collaboration Consolidates Industry Leadership
Paul Plager, Chairman and CEO of TeraWulf, noted that partnering with a leading AI company provides a highly stable revenue stream. The deal highlights TeraWulf’s expertise in securing core energy resources, developing infrastructure, and fulfilling long-term customer commitments.
As global AI competition intensifies, computing power and energy have become critical battlegrounds. By securing core infrastructure through a long-term lease, Anthropic is poised to drive the continuous evolution of its Claude AI series.
