Anthropic launches Opus 4.8 featuring new dynamic workflow tool

Anthropic unveiled Opus 4.8 on Thursday, marking the latest iteration of its premier public model. Priced identically to its predecessor, this update is now accessible across all platforms.
Releasing just 41 days after Opus 4.7, Anthropic has accelerated its development cycle significantly, outpacing the three- and seven-month intervals seen with recent Sonnet and Haiku releases. This rapid update likely responds to the lukewarm reception of Opus 4.7, which left many users underwhelmed.
Meanwhile, OpenAI’s Codex and Google’s Gemini Flash have introduced major updates, intensifying competitive pressure on Anthropic to maintain its technological edge.
While Opus 4.8 delivers top-tier benchmark performance, it places a strong emphasis on handling ambiguous or flawed data. Early testers noted that the model is now more inclined to highlight uncertainties and less prone to making unsupported assertions.
Bridgewater Associates echoed this sentiment, highlighting the model’s proactive ability to flag input and output anomalies—a feature often overlooked by other systems and left to user discretion.
Alongside the model launch, Anthropic introduced Dynamic Workflows, currently available in research preview. This feature enables larger models like Opus to coordinate complex tasks across hundreds of parallel subagents.
According to the announcement, combining Claude Code with Opus 4.8 enables codebase-scale migrations spanning hundreds of thousands of lines, validated by existing test suites from initiation to merge.
Anthropic continues to withhold its advanced Mythos model following cybersecurity concerns raised during last month’s preview. However, the company indicated that the Mythos preview phase may conclude soon once appropriate safeguards are implemented.
“We are rapidly advancing our safeguard development and anticipate deploying Mythos-class models to all customers within the coming weeks,” the company stated.
