Amazon and Anthropic Forge $12.5 Billion Decade-Long Strategic Partnership
Amazon and leading AI startup Anthropic reached a milestone in their partnership on the 20th, announcing a ten-year agreement backed by tens of billions of dollars in funding and resource exchanges to strengthen their leadership in generative AI.
Under the new deal, Anthropic committed to purchasing over $100 billion in computing resources from Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the next decade. This massive sum sets a new order record in cloud computing and signals a deep infrastructure-level integration between the two companies.

As part of the resource and support exchange, Amazon plans to raise its investment in Anthropic to up to $2.5 billion. Having previously invested $800 million, the company will immediately make $500 million available, with the remaining $2 billion to be released gradually based on Anthropic's achievement of future business milestones.
Beyond the large-scale exchange of funding and computing power, the collaboration now extends into semiconductor chip R&D. Anthropic will actively participate in Amazon's custom chip team, Annapurna Labs, helping define and optimize future generations of Trainium AI chips. In exchange, AWS will provide Anthropic with multi-generation Trainium computing clusters boasting a total power capacity of 5GW, offering a robust hardware foundation for the continuous evolution of its large models.
This deep alliance exemplifies a tech giant and a prominent AI model company complementing each other: Amazon gains a major cloud services customer and a critical chip testing ground, while Anthropic secures virtually unlimited funding and underlying computing power to sustain high-intensity output in the fiercely competitive global AI landscape.
