AI2 Robotics has reportedly secured CN¥1.2 billion ($144.7 million) in new funding to advance its work in embodied artificial intelligence. The company intends to allocate these resources toward evolving its technology platform for general-purpose humanoid robotics.
Founded in 2023 by Dr. Yangdong Eric Guo, Shenzhen-based AI2 Robotics has developed its AlphaBot wheeled humanoid robots by integrating proprietary foundation models with advanced machine learning and durable hardware components.
"AI² Robotics is dedicated to accelerating worldwide adoption of general-purpose robots, making them as commonplace as smartphones and electric vehicles, ultimately becoming essential tools for everyday life," stated company representatives.

The company has developed its Global and Omni-body vision-language-action (GOVLA) model, engineered for comprehensive spatial understanding, full-body coordination, and sophisticated task reasoning. Its unique "data closed-loop + scenario compounding" methodology provides distinct competitive advantages.
"Similar to Tesla's approach, AI² Robotics operates as one of the few companies that simultaneously develops, manufactures, and supports productivity-focused general-purpose intelligent robots – setting them apart from entertainment or performance-oriented alternatives," observed Pandaily.
According to the company, its robotic systems are already deployed across multiple sectors including retail environments, public services, biotechnology, and automotive and semiconductor manufacturing. Future expansion plans include community services, healthcare and elderly care, and domestic household applications.
Strategic industrial investors to support manufacturing and implementation
"The Series B funding round attracted major industry players including internet conglomerate Baidu, state-controlled high-speed rail manufacturer CRRC, financial technology specialist Yusys Technologies, tire producer Sentury Tire, and prominent securities firm Guotai Haitong Securities," reported Yicai Global.
This investment round values AI2 Robotics at approximately RMB10 billion ($1.4 billion). Baidu will contribute to enhancing the company's artificial intelligence capabilities, while CRRC will provide manufacturing expertise and testing infrastructure, according to Yicai Global.
"Industry partners including Yusys Technologies and SENTURY are concentrating on developing practical commercial deployment scenarios," noted Pandaily.
AI2 Robotics also plans significant updates to its AlphaBot product line while dramatically scaling production capacity from 1,000 units annually in 2025 to 10,000 units this year. Display manufacturer HKC has already placed an order for 1,000 robots, and CEO Eric Guo informed Reuters that the company anticipates pursuing public listing within the next one to two years.
