Adobe Releases Four Highly-Demanded AI Features for Premiere Pro from Beta
Adobe has been on a mission to integrate AI into its creative tools, making project execution smoother for its users. Now, they're taking some of the most innovative AI features from Adobe Premiere out of beta, opening them up to a broader audience.
On Tuesday, Adobe rolled out several features in Premiere Pro that were previously in beta, including Generative Extend, Media Intelligence, Auto-Translate caption, and Premiere Color Management. These features have been refined based on user feedback and now include highly requested tools.
Generative Extend
Ever wished you could extend a video clip without reshooting? Generative Extend does just that. It's like Photoshop's popular Generative Fill but for video. This feature uses AI to add new frames to your shots, seamlessly extending your clips. It's powered by Adobe Firefly, ensuring that the new content is commercially safe and comes with Content Credentials. Now, you can even add up to 4K frames without compromising quality.
Currently, you can try Generative Extend at no extra cost. Adobe plans to eventually use Firefly generative credits, depending on the clip's format, frame rate, and resolution.
Media Intelligence
Finding the perfect clip in Premiere can be a hassle. Media Intelligence uses AI to simplify this process. You can search your media library using natural language, describing the scene, angle, or even specific metadata like shoot date or camera type.

Adobe
I had the chance to see a demo, and it's as easy as typing "close-up shots" to filter your clips. The best part? This analysis happens right on your system, no internet needed, and Adobe assures that your data won't be used to train their models.
Auto-Translate Caption
Captions are crucial for accessibility and reaching a wider audience, but they can be time-consuming and expensive to create. Thanks to AI, Adobe now offers Auto-Translate caption, which can translate your captions into 27 different languages automatically.

Adobe
This feature allows you to generate multiple closed caption tracks in different languages at the same time, making your content more accessible and easier to edit, especially if it's in a language you're not fluent in.
Color Management Improvements
Many creatives shoot in raw or log format for greater editing control. However, raw footage can look dull and gray until edited. Premiere Color Management solves this by converting your original files directly into SDR or HDR without using look-up tables.
It also introduces a wide-gamut color pipeline, enhancing color grading in Lumetri by utilizing the clips' log and raw data. Although these settings might sound complex, Premiere Color Management makes them user-friendly with six new color management presets to choose from.
After Effects
Beyond Premiere Pro, After Effects has also been updated with new features. These include 3D tools like Animated Environment Lights, native 3D FBX model integration, new one-click menu items, HDR monitoring, and a High-Performance Preview Playback caching system. You can find the complete list on the Adobe blog.
